PetSmart Appears To Be Expanding To New South Lubbock Location on Quaker Avenue
Pet lovers in South Lubbock may soon have a new place to shop for pet supplies and services. According to Coming Soon Texas on Facebook, PetSmart has filed permits for a new store at the Commons South shopping center on Quaker Avenue.
At this time, the information has not been independently confirmed through additional sources, and PetSmart has not made a public announcement regarding the location.

Where the Store Is Reportedly Planned
Coming Soon Texas reports the proposed PetSmart would be located at 11915 Quaker Avenue, Suite A, inside the Commons South shopping center. The space is listed as a 16,384 square foot retail unit and is identified as Store #2670 in permit filings shared by the page.
The location would serve the rapidly growing residential areas south of 114th Street if the project moves forward as reported.
What the Store Could Include
The planned PetSmart location would feature a full retail floor offering pet food, toys, and supplies. The report also indicates the store would include dedicated pet grooming services.
Because this information has not been confirmed elsewhere, specific offerings and services could change prior to an official announcement.

Reported Construction Timeline
The Facebook post from Coming Soon Texas states that construction is scheduled to begin on March 1, 2026, with a projected completion date of September 1, 2026. The project is described as a $1.6 million interior build-out of the retail space.
What We Know and What We Do Not
While Coming Soon Texas has a strong track record of sharing early retail development news, I was unable to verify this news elsewhere. But I've also yet to see Coming Soon Texas to be wrong.
As with many retail developments, plans can shift or change before construction begins.
