Plainview Police received a call of shots fired at around 8:45 a.m. on Monday, September 16th, in the 1600 block of W. 11th Street.

Officers arrived on scene to find a Hispanic man, later identified as Jose Orona, threatening suicide.

After a standoff that lasted an hour and 23 minutes, Orona pointed his gun at police. He was quickly shot and killed by a SWAT sniper and first officer on scene.

The two officers that shot are currently on administrative leave.

The Texas Rangers are continuing their investigation.
