Saturday, May 4th, 2019 is a day for a double celebration. Not only is it Star Wars day, but Cannibal Corpse will be melting the beams out of Jake's Backroom (5025 50th St) that night.

Cannibal Corpse is currently on tour supporting Slayer for their farewell tour. Slayer is amazing live. I know because I saw them here in Lubbock a few years ago. I've seen multiple complaints that echo this sentiment: "Why just have Cannibal Corpse. Why not bring Slayer, too?"

First, FMX does not book concerts; we promote them. Secondly, if you look at the Slayer tour schedule, every city they are playing is considerably larger than Lubbock. We didn't get skipped; we were never in the running.

The fact that Cannibal Corpse is taking one of their few off days to come to Lubbock is something really special. We should be honored and we should support it if we ever want to have more shows of this caliber come to Lubbock.

Additionally, intimate shows are the ones I tend to cherish more. Personally, I find large festivals with multiple acts forgettable. I want a more personal connection to the music. I want to really feel that particular artist and spend some time after absorbing what I experienced. Club shows are awesome. Also, the drinks are cheaper.
