5 people, including two children, were killed in a senseless high-speed crash in the early hours of Monday morning, August 19, 2024, on I-35 in Fort Worth.

According to police, a black Chevy Camaro was speeding through the northbound lanes of traffic when it suddenly rear-ended a sedan near the Seminary Drive exit. The accident occurred just after midnight, and every single person in the sedan was killed.

No information on the children's ages has been released and medical examiners have yet to identify the passengers. Northbound lanes were closed down for several hours after the incident. The driver who caused the horrific crash was hospitalized with serious injuries, but, NBC DFW reported that as of 6 a.m., they were in "good condition".

It only takes a few bad decisions to change the lives of so many people. The friends and family of the 5 people killed in this accident are likely sick with grief right now because someone thought speeding was no big deal. It's a harsh reminder of just how precious life is. It can all change so fast.

My friends always make fun of me for being an overly cautious driver. They think I'm lame for staying a couple of miles under the speed limit on the highway instead of flying by everyone else. I couldn't disagree more. There are plenty of other reasons I'm lame. Doing my best not to cause an accident like this, is not one. There is nothing cool about reckless driving.

Don't let anyone else influence how you drive when it comes to being safe. It's way better to get made fun of for being a bit of a granny than it is to take the lives of 5 people. Please be careful out there, friends.
