Red Sun Rising Engage Their ‘Deathwish’ With New Video
Sure, the music is good, but this is a party you might not want to RSVP to. Simply put, about the only thing you'd really want to be part of is listening to Red Sun Rising playing their new song "Deathwish" in the Brad Golowin-directed clip for the track.
The video centers on a dinner party of sorts, but one with darker undertones as the attendees seem intent on meeting their end. Hint: Don't eat those cupcakes! It appears as though at least one person may not be ready to meet their end, but it truly is a darker clip befitting of the mood set by the band in the song.
"Deathwish" is the lead single from the band's forthcoming sophomore set, Thread. The album is due March 30 via Concord Music / Razor & Tie. The band landed a dream studio pairing, with Matt Hyde producing the upcoming disc, while Jay Ruston mixed the effort.
Speaking about the disc, vocalist Mike Protich stated, "This album feels like a rebirth. Although Red Sun Rising played 140 shows on our last tour, it was not until we made this album that I felt we became a band. The growth and evolution of RSR that you will hear in our sound and our songwriting builds on our Thread mentality (songs that people can love and sing with us but don't fit a mold). We aren't chasing trends and never will."
Physical pre-orders are currently available via MerchNow, while digital pre-orders will start beginning Jan. 19. After taking part in ShipRocked later this month and opening three shows for Stone Sour in February, Red Sun Rising will kick off an extensive tour of their own beginning March 18 in Syracuse, N.Y.
