Lubbock Family To Host Honor Ride For Lubbock Teenager Who Died After Motorcycle Crash

After her teenage son passed away in a motorcycle crash in Lubbock, Rose Canales has done everything she can to honor her child and to spread motorcycle safety awareness. Now, she's planning an honor ride in his memory this August.

Sean Canales Killed In Motorcycle Crash, Passenger Seriously Injured

I am using the term "crash" instead of accident, because there are some strange and seriously disturbing allegations surrounding the incident. On February 1st of this year, Sean and his girlfriend, Maisie Casares, crashed into a guardrail on Marsha Sharp near 29th Street. Sean was killed, and Maisie suffered very serious injuries.

Possible Crimes Were Commited

On the surface, it seems like an unfortunate single-vehicle accident; however, Sean's mom knew he had a GoPro on his bike. Upon further investigation by the LPD, it was discovered that three men may have somehow been involved in the accident, possibly stealing the GoPro and destroying evidence. Two of the men have been charged with tampering with evidence, and one was charged with failure to stop and render aid. Since this is an ongoing investigation, only time will tell if more evidence comes to light.

Honor Ride For Sean Canales Details

If you would like to participate in the Honor Ride for Sean, it is being held on Saturday, August 1st. Participants are to meet at the Academy Sports 5802 19th St location at 3:300 p.m. with kickstands up at 3:30. The ride is to At Home, where there are planned to be food trucks and vendors, and a special memorial at 8:37 p.m., the time that Sean passed away.

Sean's mother hopes to raise awareness about motorcycle safety and one day establish a foundation in her son's honor to provide safety equipment and training courses for riders.
