Sex Offender Who Failed to Register Accepts Plea Deal
A sex offender who moved to Lubbock and failed to register accepted a plea deal this week.
KAMC News reports 54 year-old Tino Barrios was convicted in 1992 for criminal sexual conduct with a 13-year-old. He was sentenced to no more than 7 years.
In March of 2017, Barrios filed a form in Minnesota saying that he was moving to a home in Lubbock in the 1300 block of 40th Street. In June, police found Barrios as part of a sex offender compliance check and he was told that he was supposed to register within 24 hours of arriving in Lubbock.
When July arrived, investigators questioned Barrios and he denied living at the address in Lubbock, but family members said he’d lived there for several weeks.
Barrios was arrested and after accepting the plea deal, he will serve no more than 10 years in prison.
