37-year-old Solomun Weldekeal Araya, an 18-wheeler truck driver, was charged with 5 counts of intoxicated manslaughter after 5 people were killed and several were injured in a horrific 17-vehicle crash just before 11:30 pm on March 13, 2025.

The five people killed include three adults, one child, and one infant.

Police have not yet released any details on the circumstances that led to the wreck.

A video of the alleged intoxicated driver has since gone viral. The man doesn't seem to understand the gravity of the situation as an onlooker explains to him that people died in the accident.

I watched the video several times and can't tell if his speech is just slurred, if he's speaking another language, or both. Check it out for yourself and tell me what you think.

Araya is in custody at the Travis County Jail and jail records did not list an attorney for him at the time of this article's publication.
