Some Of Lubbock’s Best Food Is In The Most Unexpected Place
During the World Series, the unthinkable happened at my house. The TV stopped working. My honey was distraught and panicking, and I could see the beginnings of fear sweat drip from under the brim of his bright blue Rangers hat.
Adding to the panic I'm sure was the fact that we were both absolutely starving. The solution to both problems became clear: we'd watch the game at Savage Tavern (1625 University Ave).
It was a solid decision. In addition to the game being on every screen, and running into several friends, we also had absolutely amazing, fresh food in huge portions- all at a beyond reasonable price. I wish I had taken a photo of my picture-perfect Philly but Instagram didn't get to eat first that time.
What makes savage different than any other bar with bar food? It's a few things: the freshness, the variety, the unique and interesting daily specials curated by the chefs at Savage. Paired with one of their delicious bar drinks you've got a meal to get emotional about. The Chiltons are exceptional here, as are any of their wallet-friendly daily drink specials.
We don't do this for the glamor, it's about being able to help make someone's day better with a drink in their hand and a hot plate of food in front of them. -Allik Stapp
That truly is the vibe at Savage. It's a cozy, uncomplicated place to saddle up to a delicious meal and a thirst-quenching drink. Oh, and they also do a killer brunch on Sundays, too.
