It was last August (8/30/2022) that the owners of Kings Street Pub announced that their quirky, cool, and unique restaurant was closing forever. Many of the charming fixtures and furniture were auctioned off, and one of my friends was able to snag some relics from the sale. Since then, the location (8004 Indiana) has sat empty, despite how busy that shopping center can get.

If you never got a chance to eat at Kings Street, you missed out on a romantic dining experience, with New American cuisine and an extensive wine selection. Their adjacent business, Queen of Tarts, was a lovely little bakery and cheese shop and I miss it a lot.

We all know the restaurant business can be tough in Lubbock, and things change. Yesterday, to my surprise, I noticed something new as I was going into another nearby business- a banner hanging on the building announcing a Japanese restaurant! Of course, I snapped a picture.

In case you're wondering, Momotaro is a Japanese folk hero, in English Peach Boy.

Lubbock lost a bunch of buffets post-COVID, so I'm excited to see this one is incoming, with all my favorite foods. All I can eat sushi, hibachi, and Hot Pot? Heck yes!

I attempted to find more details and have so far come up unsuccessful, but I'll be watching this location like a hawk for an opening date and any other tantalizing details. As much as Kings Street is missed, I am thrilled for this delicious new option.
