I love living in Lubbock, but there is one small annoyance that comes with the privilege- air travel in and out of Lubbock can be an odyssey.

I find it especially annoying when I have to go backwards to Dallas to end up on the West Coast, but I digress.

Luckily, Southwest Airlines in Lubbock is launching a new direct flight service to Houston Hobby, adding a new level of convenience to customers.

Details on Southwest’s New Lubbock to Houston Route

Beginning on March 5th of next year, Southwest Airlines will offer daily direct flights to Houston Hobby Airport. Southwest currently only offers this on weekends.

While George Bush Intercontinental Airport is the biggest airport in Houston, Hobby offers a less congested alternative for flyers.

I always opt for the smaller airport when possible. I always fly into Long Beach instead of LAX to visit my grandmother, as it is a significantly less stressful experience with much shorter lines. If I ever need to go to Houston, I will certainly opt for Hobby.

What Direct Flights Does Southwest Currently Offer In Lubbock?

According to the Lubbock Avalanche-Journal, Southwest currently offers five direct flights out of Lubbock. There include:

Houston Hobby (weekends only, as mentioned previously)

Denver, Colorado (1 to 2 times per day between Southwest and United)

Las Vegas, Nevada (1 per day)

Austin, Texas (1 per day, more on Saturdays)

Dallas, Texas (3-5 times per week)
