Sparkling Water Sold In Texas Recalled- Could Cause Lacerations
If you were to ask me which food or drink item would be the least likely to be recalled, water seems like a pretty safe bet.
However, water has recently been recalled- a whopping 61,000 bottles worth. A sparkling water brand sold at Trader Joe's, including locations in Texas, has been recalled because it could leave you bloodied.
The water in question is Gerolsteiner Sparkling Water in the large 750ml size. There is a defect with the glass bottles that could cause them to crack- leading to a laceration hazard.
The bottles were sold individually and in packs of 15 with lot numbers 11/28/2024 L and 11/27/2024 L. The recall only effects these lot numbers and so far no injuries have been reported.
If you have one of these bottles, you can return it to Trader Joe's for a refund (just be careful handling it). Consuming the water itself is not harmful, so don't worry if you have already drunk from one of these bottles.
According to ABC News, this is a very rare and limited recall for this German sparkling water brand. This is an excerpt from a statement sent by Gerolsteiner to ABC:
With more than five decades of experience working directly with the producers of our products, we stand by our proactive practices and continually improve our food safety processes. We take these matters seriously—personally, even, as our families eat and drink TJ's products, too.
I've had Gerolsteiner water several times- it's delicious if you like water with a noticeable clean mineral taste. And again, there is nothing wrong with the water per se, just watch out for the bottles from these specific lots.
