Stock Up Texas! 15 Frito Lay Snacks Are Disappearing From Shelves
Texans love Frito Lay, as they are "one of our own." The 13 billion-dollar company is headquartered in Plano.
Frito Lay is also on the cutting edge of snacks we like- including spicy and international flavors (I cannot get enough Salsa Verde Doritos!)
Frito Lay makes the most popular chips in the snack aisle- including Lay's, Cheetos, Doritos, Fritos (of course), Tostitos, Sun Chips, Santitas, Smart Food popcorn, and Rold Gold pretzels. And each "brand" carries from a few to many flavors/ varieties.
However, with innovation comes the need to adjust. Frito Lay has announced they are discontinuing 15 varieties of their snacks, according to Sporked.
When Will These Items Disappear?
Sporked is speculating that the items will disappear as soon as this month. Of course, it will depend on sales at individual stores, so if you have a favorite, you may want to stock up as soon as possible.
What Will Replace These Items?
Now that's an exciting question. Sporked claims to know "so stay tuned."
If that answer is unsatisfactory to you, Toast.com has some ideas about snack trends we could see in 2025.
These include "healthy" items like plant-based, vegetable-based, protein-packed, alternative grains, etc. Healthy, of course, is subjective.
Toast also speculates a reformulation of nostalgic flavors- remember when you could get any snack "pizza" flavored? I do.
There could also be a continued push into international flavors and sweet/savory flavor combinations. Last year there was a limited tzatziki flavor that absolutely was worthy of full-time shelf status. But I am a Texan, and we like anything dill-flavored.
So which varieties are going into the history books? Here's the list:
