Lubbock, Stop Asking People Why They Don’t Have Kids
I'm a 37-year-old woman with three cats, so naturally, there are a few people out there who think my uterus is a matter of grave public concern.
"Why don't you have kids, Chrissy?"
Oh, I don't know, Susan...
Why don't you have a pet raccoon that juggles? Since we're clearly asking eachother deeply personal questions nobody invited us to ask.
You see, the thing is...
There are about a billion different reasons someone might not have kids. Do you know how many of them are your business? Absolutely zero.
And yet people keep throwing out that question like it's cute.
Maybe they've struggled with infertility. Maybe they've had devastating miscarriages. Maybe they are dealing with health problems. Maybe they have relationship issues.
Maybe they have tried desperately to become parents, and your innocent little question just tanked their entire afternoon.
And maybe, just maybe, they do not want kids, which is a perfectly acceptable reason to take a hard pass on parenthood.
I gotta tell ya, I really love sleeping until noon and having furniture that isn't covered in sticky mystery stains. It's fantastic.

Kids are also expensive as hell.
Grocery prices alone are enough to make you reconsider the kids you already have, and unfortunately, the return policy isn't exactly like Walmart's.

I'll probably be a cat lady for life, and I don't see anything wrong with that.
I mean, look how cute they are:

It's 2026, and this kind of stuff doesn't fly anymore. Get with the times.
Lubbock, I'm begging you, stop telling women their biological clock is ticking like you're some kind of time lord.
The next time you're tempted to ask someone why they don't have kids, try asking something less invasive instead, like whether they've committed tax fraud or if they've ever hidden a body.
At least that could lead to an interesting conversation.
