There’s A Tacos And Tequila In 2026, But Lubbock Will Have To Travel For It
Much like waving your hands around a dog's face, if you want to rile up a Lubbock music fan, you need only utter three words: "tacos," "and," "tequila." The absolute disaster that was the never-materialized third installment of that local festival is a sore spot for many, and for good reason: many people had to fight tooth and nail to get a refund on the hefty ticket price after several "postponements" of the show.

Tacos And Tequila: A Lubbock Disaster Story
There were also rumors that the promoters never actually booked the promised bands, that all along it was intended to be one giant rug pull. I have no idea if that's true or not (although I can empathize with anyone suspecting that). The name of the festival changed on Facebook and online to something like Texxxassfestival, again giving cause to believe the actual event was a deeply unserious prospect.

The Real Deal Tacos And Tequila
The name change was likely due to a cease-and-desist order from another Tacos and Tequila Festival, which has an amazing traveling line-up for 2026: hip hop legends Three 6 Mafia, Paul Wall (a guy Lubbock just loves), Jay Sean, and others. And I bet they actually have plenty of tequila and tacos in lieu of a warm $10 beer.
Lubbock Deserves The Real Thing
And why oh why can't we have this here? Hip hop shows in Lubbock are pure FUN- ask anyone who saw Bone Thug, Cypress Hill, and Ice Cube. That show was well attended with the most excellent vibes. It was honestly beautiful. We have venues. We have interest; we have a sizable college-kid population. I'm hoping someone steps up (a someone with integrity) and makes more events like these a reality in Lubbock.
In the meantime, you can catch the real deal in San Antonio (what a great town). More info here.
