We have children that spent some or all of their school year in a remote learning situation attempting to take and pass these tests. It's extremely unfair.
On the first day of STAAR testing (Tuesday, April 6th), testing was suspended after multiple students were unable to either start or complete their online test.
In a statement Monday, Gov. Abbott announced that passing the STAAR test would not be a requirement to move on to the next grade for 5th and 8th graders.
