Texas Dad Sentenced For Killing Man Who Threatened to Leak Daughter’s Nude Photos
42-year-old Jessie Clifford Brown was sentenced for murdering 24-year-old John Allen Franco, a man who threatened to leak nude photographs of his daughter after a two-year murder investigation led to his arrest in October of 2017.
Franco was discovered in his car on May 20, 2015, following a police report of a crash at Old Highway 134 and Smallwood Road in Liberty City. Cops found him shot in the head and deceased upon arrival. Witnesses claimed two other men pulled up next to them in traffic, one being Brown, who exited the vehicle and shot Franco through the driver's side window.
Sadly, Franco's young daughter was also in the car and witnessed her father's murder.
The lengthy prison sentence handed down by the jury has been met with mixed reviews. Some believe Brown was simply protecting his daughter. Others say even though Franco was in the wrong for threatening to share private images, murder was not the solution.
A statement by Franco's friend given to the News-Journal reads, "Man, you gotta have a heart. Not one guy was affected by this, you know. His daughters—his two daughters—have been affected by it, his mother, his aunt, and all his cousins."
This situation could have been handled very differently. If you ever find yourself dealing with someone threatening to share private images of a family member, friend, or yourself, please get in touch with the authorities. Threats like this are taken very seriously by law enforcement these days. It's not like it was at the start of the internet. They will help you. Don't take matters into your own hands.
