Texas Emergency Room Wait Times Are Absolutely Insane
Have you been to an emergency room in Texas lately? I had the unfortunate experience of waiting around in a lobby at one for 6 hours the other night before getting so fed up, I signed myself out. I went to another one across town, only to wait another 5 hours and eventually go home without being seen. It was pretty terrible. I arrived in tears only to go home in the same condition.
Food poisoning is no joke, guys, but, I wasn't the only person suffering in the lobby, waiting for help. There were dozens of us in there. The guy next to me had an appendicitis. Several people were coughing their heads off. One girl was puking into a trashcan in her lap. It was a pretty icky place to hang out, especially when you already feel like death. In fact, a friend of mine spent over 6 hours waiting in the ER lobby just last night!
According to MDPremier.com, Texans wait an average of 4 hours in ER waiting rooms. It all depends on the severity of the patient's condition and the size of the hospital.
Is it just me, or does it seem like emergency room wait times are MUCH longer than they were in the 90s? I never remember waiting as long as people have recently...
How are the ER facilities in your part of Texas? I know you can often cut down on ER wait times by scheduling your visit on ER websites, but...when you deem something an EMERGENCY...scheduling an appointment isn't exactly the first thing on your mind...
