Texas Is One Of The Top 10 Most Fun States In The U.S.
Here's some good news about Texas...it's a fun place!
Texas
Most outsiders think of Texas as a barren place, somewhat like a ghost town, with a strong wind blowing a tumbleweed down the street. Some are also put off by our "right to carry" laws and think we're operating like the wild west here. Don't tell them that we're having the most fun in the Lone Star State. We've got it all from amusement parks to a ton of live music.
The Survey
A recent Wallethub survey placed Texas 7th in the "Most Fun States In America (2024). The survey took into account to main categories which are a comendium of other categories. The categories were "Entertainment & Recreation" and "Nightlife". Some of the sub-categories were things like "Movie theaters per capita" and "Access to Nation Parks". There were other categories we did very poorly in, for obvious reasons, like, "Skiing facilities per capita". Wallethub really drills down and gets some very good metrics when conducting these studies.
It's Good, Right?
This is some good news after being rated so poorly in other areas. We also have to put in the caveat that the bigger cities in Texas no doubt are draggin' along a lot of the smaller towns. For instance, Austin's music scene and the insane amount of venue no doubt props up one category or another. In other words, Texas is a great place to visit, you just have to know where to go.
Who Beat Us?
For the most part, the states that we're rated more fun than Texas are mostly predictable. The top 6 are Florida, California, Nevada, New York, Colorado, and Illinois. Just to wrap things up, West Virginia gets the nod as the least fun state in the U.S.
