This is a mess and a very tangled web.  I'm going to try to sort this out for you, but the long and short of it is the Texas Longhorns may be splitting up the the Big 12 conference.  This article contains "suggestive" language-you've been warned.  Read more after the break.

Here's the situation-The Longhorns signed a deal to start their own t.v. "network" with ESPN.  Now, not only are there possible NCAA issues, other schools in the Big 12 think it might give Texas an unfair recruiting advantage.  The problem is that the Longhorn network would also host high school games.

Now A & M and O.U.  are talking to the S.E.C. about possibly jumping ship.

This is what I've been able to gather after reading reports on A.P. and KCBD and a few other sources. It seems the bottom line is that U.T. made a deal and expected the rest of the conference to roll over and "follow the leader".  The Longhorn network seems to be a way to circumvent revenue share programs and pick up more  cash.  These seem to be the only conclusions I can come up with.  It's just total bullsmacky that Texas makes deals that impact the whole conference but don't have the courtesy to discuss it with everyone else (in street parlance:  they screw us and don't give us the courtesy of a reach around).

So the Big 12 is down by two, and two more may bail out.  We may be stuck with a "lame 8' or the bust up of the Big 12 altogether.  It's unlikely that the latter will happen since we've proved time after time that we're the Longhorns lapdogs and that we exist only to give them someone to play. I personally would like to see Tech bail out-we can still have some kind of "State of Texas" off season series or something.  It's time we look out for our own interests and not just follow behind Texas hoping some change falls out of their pocket.

I'd really like some opinions and if you have more information that too.  Did Texas overstep? Do we have the balls to tell them to stop? Is the whole thing overreaction?  Tell me what you think below.
