Earlier this month, a Texas man was arrested in Bangor, Maine twice in two days for domestic assault. Aric Houghton, 30, is pictured below.

This might lead you to believe that he was defending himself, or at least was "getting as good as he got."

However, his girlfriend claims Houghton cut his own face with a razor to get her arrested for assault, according to Boston 25 News.

The first arrest happened when Houghton allegedly assaulted his girlfriend at her apartment. On the next day at the same apartment, Houghton called the police to report that he had been assaulted by his girlfriend.

However, his girlfriend reported that Houghton had used his copy of the apartment key to enter her residence and attacked her.

“She told officers she felt he was there to kill her. She also told them he had a razor blade and had cut his own face, telling her he was going to get her arrested for assaulting him”

Houghton was treated for his injuries. His girlfriend was also taken to the hospital for undisclosed injuries.

I have to admit that Houghton's injuries look exactly how I would imagine someone cutting their own face- avoiding the eyes and mouth. Not too deep and in fairly methodical lines. I'm not a forensic scientist, so I'm only speculating.

Houghton was charged with Domestic violence aggravated assault and Violation of Bail Condition, according to the Penobscot jail roster.

The case made several news outlets, including TMZ.
