Texas Tech Family Breaks Guinness World Record

The Wuensche family bloodline has been attending Texas Tech since 1952, with graduates ranging from Wilson, Texas all the way to Chicago. But, eight years ago the family realized just how many family members had graduated as Red Raiders.

Back in July 2022, they did something no family has done, they now hold a Guinness World Record for the most family members to graduate from the same university, which is now 44. Previously beating the old record that was 40.

They documented and collected birth certificates, marriage licenses, copies of diplomas, and everything they could to figure out if they beat it.

According to Guinness World Record, "Amber Wuensche Parker read an article on the previous record-holders (40 remembers) and posted it to a Facebook group the Wuensche family use to keep in touch. They soon realized between them there were enough Texas Tech graduates to break the record, so began collecting evidence for their claim."

After eight years of sifting through attics, boxes, and countless phone calls to Texas Tech, the family received the call that they had been waiting for. They have 44 family members that submitted paperwork, as well as 14 spouses. There are a total of 109 Wuensche family members from 4 generations that have attended Texas Tech since 1953.

You can tell by their Facebook post that the family is very proud of their accomplishment and we are too. Way to go Wuensche family hopefully this tradition continues!
