Manor ISD is mourning the loss of a student who was brutally stabbed to death by a fellow classmate in a restroom at Manor Senior High School on Thursday. 18-year-old Mac Brown Mbanwei was taken into custody and is facing first-degree murder charges in connection with the death of 18-year-old Darrin Loving.

The resource officer for Manor ISD was reported to have discovered Loving "bleeding out" with several stab wounds in the area of the school lunchroom while out patrolling the school during lunch period. Staff administered first aid until the EMS arrived. Loving was pronounced dead after their arrival.

The victim's sister reported to KXAN that Loving was in special education courses at Manor High School to help with a speech impediment he suffered due to an undisclosed medical issue.

An officer on the scene located the suspected killer in the bathroom with his hands in his pockets, concealing a kitchen knife, after overhearing students yelling his name. Blood spatter suggests the encounter begin in the boy's restroom and then continued out into the hallway near the lunch area.

Students have not yet returned to school since the incident but are expected to resume class on Monday. The school district is also planning on holding a vigil tonight in honor of Loving.

We hope those affected by this terrible tragedy find peace and the responsible party is brought to justice.
