Texas Teen Faces Charges for Alleged Armed Sexual Assault at High School
19-year-old Synniaz Elijah is facing major charges after allegedly gaining entry to Mesquite ISD's Horn High School and using a weapon to force his former girlfriend into a school bathroom and sexually assaulting her.
Sources say Elijah was let into the school by a student who knew him and opened a locked exterior door to allow him access to the building. Elijah is not a student at Horn High School.
It is alleged that Elijah used a knife to force his victim into a school bathroom where he is then accused of sexually assaulting her at approximately 2:30 pm last Tuesday.
FOX 4 reports that the victim went straight to the office to tell school officials what happened. Elijah was spotted by a teacher and fled the scene. Police tracked him down to his residence and arrested him around 9:45 pm the same day.
Elijah is charged with aggravated sexual assault of a child.
Horn High School released a statement about the incident to let the public know that they are appalled this individual was able to gain access to the school. They also mentioned that any student who opens a door to someone not authorized to be in the building will be subject to "serious disciplinary action."
Investigations into the alleged sexual assault are still ongoing.
It's terrifying to think how easily someone with bad intentions could get into your child's school. Please remind your children that school doors are locked for reasons such as this and anyone entering their school should always do so through the appropriate door.
