James Spader Returns to ‘The Office’ – Watch the Hilarious, Spader-Centric Season Eight Promo [VIDEO]

While this promo for season eight of ‘The Office’ doesn’t offer any new footage, it does remind us why we love James Spader, whose cameo as the intensely confident Robert California drew raves last season.

The montage of California’s unnerving stare and Jedi mind tricks is the perfect thing to make us forget that Michael Scott (Steve Carell), the show’s heart and soul, won’t be returning in the fall.

It still remains a mystery who will be named the new regional manager in place of Scott, but California will take over as CEO of Dunder Mifflin’s parent company Sabre (a position previously held by Kathy Bates’ Jo Bennett).

Season eight of ‘The Office’ premieres on September 22.
