The Sword Surrender to ‘Deadly Nightshade,’ Plot New Album + U.S. Tour
The Sword are returning in 2018 and so is their distorted guitars, after taking an acoustic detour on 2016's Low Country EP. On Used Future, their forthcoming record, they've restored their signature sound, which can be heard on the new jam "Deadly Nightshade."
It's a desert-riding song melding the classic Tony Iommi meets Jimmy Page riffage with a push and pull energy. There's some more jarring sounds present amidst the head-bobbing, blues-based guitar playing, countered by fluid bass lines and sustained chords, fitting perfectly within the group's existing catalog.
The Sword will be touting their new release on a a three-week U.S. run with King Buffalo serving as the opening act. The tour begins on March 21 in the group's home town of Austin, Texas and they'll circle back to the Lone Star State, capping it off with an April 12 performance in Houston. See the full list of stops below along with Used Future's track listing and album artwork.
Used Future comes out March 23 through Razor & Tie and you can snag a copy for yourself by pre-ordering here. Any iTunes reservations will come with an instant download of "Deadly Nightshade," a song you can probably bet on them playing on the road soon.
