When I was a kid, my best friend and I used to lay on the trampoline and stare up at the clouds, hoping we'd see a tornado. The movie Twister was popular at the time, and we were DEAD set on experiencing a major weather event. We'd watch the clouds for hours and play pretend that we were real-life storm chasers. We didn't consider how terrifying or dangerous it could be, probably because we weren't alive to experience the twister that hit downtown Lubbock in 1970 and killed more than two dozen people.
