Think You’re Funny? Check Out These Open Mic Comedy Nights In Lubbock
Stand-up comedy is making waves through the hub and if you haven't been out to take a peep at the local comedy scene, you are definitely missing out. Hilarious local jokes and booze? What more could you really want?
Right now, you can get a few laughs every single Wednesday night at The Lantern Tavern at 8:30 pm hosted by the very funny Selena Martinez and Aaron Durbin. The show has a bingo twist that the audience is really getting into.
Thursday nights at BarPM at 8 pm have also been filling up and typically include a special feature comedian at the end of the open-mic sessions. I just happen to be the new Thursday night host for Backroom Comedy at BarPM, and I've been having an insanely fun time. We offer a free shot for first-time guests, so if you are on the fence about going because you think we probably suck, at least come and let me buy you a swig of Vodka!
You don't even have to change out of sweatpants to come out and enjoy some jokes. Most of the comedians aren't going to shower for you, so return the favor by just showing up and maybe cracking a few smiles.

If you are interested in trying your hand at comedy, anyone is welcome to sign up, but spots are very limited as these shows have been gaining more and more popularity. Arrive 30 to 45 minutes early to get yourself on the list, if you are feeling brave, or maybe you just want to make fun of your ex-wife on stage in front of strangers for a few minutes. It's highly therapeutic, I promise and we don't bite! And don't worry, if you suck at it, we will just make fun of you forever. Laughs for all! It's a win-win! See you soon at some local comedy!
