Two 18-year-old boys from San Angelo were arrested last Sunday after being accused of stealing more than $1 million from Walmart over a year while employed by the superstore. Ryan Munoz and Carmelo Amigleo currently have a bond set for $350,000 and the two remain in jail while they wait to face the music.

A tip to authorities about the large-scale ongoing theft from Walmart by the teen employees led investigators to begin their investigation to get to the bottom of it on July 24th. 4 days later, the pair were found in nearby homes and arrested without incident.

There is currently no word on whether or not the duo stole cash or merchandise, only that the theft exceeded $1 million.

A press conference released last Monday by SAPF Chief Travis Griffith asked local citizens to come forward with any information regarding the major theft while they continue to investigate the matter further.

According to the 2024 GITNUX Report, Walmart loses an estimated $3 billion each year due to theft and about 43% of those losses are from employee theft alone. Statistics show that someone shoplifts from a Walmart store approximately every 48 seconds. On average, a single shoplifting incident costs Walmart $200. The annual loss for the company is even higher than the revenue made each year by several Fortune 500 companies, which puts it in perspective.
