Video: Lubbock TikToker Jokes About Buying Gas on the Eastside

We came across a TikTok video by user @tono806_ in which he comically displays what it's like to buy gas in the middle of the night on Avenue A in Lubbock, Texas. I've done it before, and you probably have, too.

Of course, those weren't actually gunshots happening there. It's just a clip he took from another user's video, so don't panic. Lubbock has seen such a huge uptick in crime the past couple of years that I'm not surprised at him for making a little fun of it. Honestly, buying gas anywhere at 2 a.m. in Lubbock is kind of terrifying.

I live on the other side of town and I've called in gunshots in my neighborhood three times this year. I even lost a window at my house to a stray bullet on the 4th of July. I think most of us are just looking around waiting for Batman or something at this point. Or better yet, hoping that our public officials to do something to address the violent crime and theft that makes us all feel uneasy at night.
