Video: Lubbock Woman Commits Cardinal Sin, Takes Neighbor’s Pecans Without Permission
"Thou shalt not take thy neighbors pecans without permission" sounds like a pretty good commandment for the city of Lubbock, a place where people take pecan pie very seriously.
A Lubbock resident shared a Ring video to NextDoor of someone apparently taking their pecans without permission. It wasn't just a few either. The woman is seen in the video gathering them from the front yard with a pecan picker-upper and everything. She looks stunned when the man comes outside the home and asks her what she is doing.
Duh, bro. She's trying to bake a delicious pie with your pecans!
You can check out the video here, it's kind of funny.
It may seem silly, but I remember something similar happening to me that really ticked me off.
I used to have a huge fig tree in my backyard that I took really great care of and watered constantly. Figs are so delicious and hard to find, but not for me. I had the hook-up.
One year, my neighbor came through my back fence and cut all of the figs off of my tree without permission. I was furious. I asked him why he did it and he said that the person who lived in my house before me used to bake him fig cookies every single year. Since I lived there now, he would have to bake them himself.
That was not the answer I was looking for and I was really sad that I wouldn't be able to make a bunch of jam after all the work I put into keeping that tree healthy.
I ended up making him a bunch of fig cookies the following year just to prevent that from happening again. *Sigh*
Don't take your neighbor's pecans.
