Hey Lubbock, it's time to stop scrolling and start strolling!

If your idea of going outside lately has been walking out to find the lost DoorDash driver in your apartment complex parking lot, you are not alone.

Lubbock has a new activity that requires slightly more effort, but the payoff could be huge.

How To Make Friends In Lubbock Without Going To The Bar

Local man Dylan Beckwith is starting Walk Lubbock, a casual community walking group designed specifically to get you away from your screens, outside, meeting new people, and making friends in the Hub City.

The first walk is scheduled for Saturday, September 26th at 9:30 am at Tech Terrace Park. The group is planning to meet every Saturday morning (while it's nice and cool) at rotating locations around town.

Walks could include spots like Mae Simmons Park, the Lubbock Memorial Arboretum, and other pretty parks and trails.

But, listen...

Before you hear "walking group" and picture a whole bunch of terrifying fitness people, speed-walking like madmen in fancy tennis shoes and an unnecessary amount of sports gear, relax.

Walk Lubbock is designed to be casual and conversational. This is not about getting to the finish line. It's about getting to know people, breaking your mundane routine, and getting a few steps in all at once.

The group is also choosing public, visible, and well-trafficked parks so newcomers will feel comfortable joining in with people they don't know.

All you need to join the group is comfy shoes, a water bottle, and the desire to make some pals and burn a few calories.

Basically, Lubbock...
