I recently spent the week at our family condo in Possum Kingdom. One morning on my trip, I was chatting with a friend on the phone while I was out for a walk, and they mentioned that I should watch my step in case there were any snakes out and about.

Sometimes, I honestly forget there are some SUPER deadly snakes in Texas. Their reminder had me feeling a little on edge and suddenly more self-aware than normal. I recalled a friend being bitten by a rattlesnake while she was gardening one day. She had a pretty close call, but she made it out alive.

It's a good idea to familiarize yourself with 6 of the deadliest snakes in Texas. You should also be sure your kids know what to look for when they are outside playing on their own.
