The self-titled West Texas Driving Range Pro JJ Killeen is participating in the Byron Nelson PGA event starting today, May 12th, and could potentially make some people major money if he takes home the trophy.

HYPOTHETICALLY, if somebody had made a $5 bet, at a legal establishment, Killeen to win the tournament, then they'd be walking away with $12,500 if he's holding a trophy on Sunday. Not just if he picks up a random trophy, he'd have to win and his name would absolutely have to be on the trophy.

A $100 bet would net you $250,000 if he won the Byron Nelson event.

Now, Killeen's long odds are probably appropriate, but this isn't his first rodeo. The former TCU Golfer has seen high competition in College and was the 2011 Korn Ferry Tour player of the year. The Byron Nelson will be his third PGA event in the last decade.

Killeen played in the Valero Texas Open in both 2015 and in 2021, missing the cut both times.

All I'm saying though is that this is setting up for Killeen and his bag man/caddy Brad Ralston to make some noise this weekend. Will he make the cut? Probably not, but I do know whatever Killeen is doing, he's having a damn fun time doing it.

And if he is playing bogey golf through the first two days and he's not in contention he'll just be singing the praises of the new Red Feather Golf Course that's on its way to Lubbock and currently under construction.
