If the world ends tomorrow, let's be honest, every person you know from West Texas already thinks they'll make it to the credits. Why? Because living in this area, we've basically been training for the friggin' apocalypse our entire lives. It's no coincidence we are the way we are. There are a couple of major factors that play into our thought process when it comes to the world ending.

West Texas Weather

We grew up in a place so hot, it feels like the sun alone is trying to take us out. And, the air? Full of dirt, dust, and the smell of cow poo. Haboobs roll into town like a scene from Mad Max, and chances are, you've got a neighbor with a freezer full of deer meat for just in case sh*t hits the fan. It's not a hobby to survive chaos here; it's simply our culture.

We aren't afraid of a little wind in West Texas. Most of us can still stand upright during a 70 mph gust with grocery bags in tow. We aren't afraid of tornadoes. We are fascinated by them.

West Texas Mentality

West Texas Forsight

How many people in town do you know with a bunker?

I actually know a few, which, in a way, helps me sleep better at night. I assume they'd let me hope if needed. Might have to bring some snacks and card games to secure my spot...fingers crossed one of y'all opens the hatch when I come knocking when the world falls apart...

West Texas Experience

Our grandparents lived through the Dust Bowl, guys, and they take every opportunity to remind us of that. Most of us young'ins have barely been through a grocery store shortage, but that West Texas survival grit runs in our blood.

So, do you think you'd have a good chance at outlasting a bombing or major event that could take us out? Drop a comment below this article and tell me why, or email me at Chrissy.Covington@townsquaremedia.com, then keep scrolling for more silly stuff in the galleries below...
