When Cheerleaders Stop Flipping and Start Fleeing: False Gunfire Scare in Texas
DALLAS, TEXAS - Chaos broke out at the NCA All-Star National Championship cheerleading competition last weekend in Dallas, where at least 10 people were injured while trying to evacuate the facility after reports of an active shooter.
So, what happened?
Some knocked-over poles made a loud noise, which in turn sparked reports of gunfire inside the convention center, leading to all-out chaos. There was no actual shooting in the building, but as spectators ran for the exit doors, a stampede ensued.
Police reported broken bones, bumps, and bruises were all as a result of people trying to flee the building, hand over foot.
Some performances at the championship were canceled for Saturday, but the event continued on Sunday, crutches, bandages, and all.

It's important not to panic when it comes to trying to evacuate a building, but I imagine there were a LOT of nerves at this competition already. Everyone was there for the top prize! Cheerleaders and spectators were already on edge, biting their nails and praying for a win! It's no wonder things got to panicked.
Hopefully, everyone made it home safe from the competition and is not completely traumatized by what went down. You'll get them next year, guys. Don't worry.
