It's a shame that more people in Lubbock don't recycle. If you aren't into it, I honestly don't really blame you. It's not the most convenient thing to do here. You've got to bag up all of the stuff and physically take it to a recycling center yourself. If the city provided all of the residents with recycling bins and then came by once a week to pick them up, I think they would be surprised at just how many people participated.

Is it just me, or does it sort of feel like nobody in Lubbock cares about recycling?

Think about it. When is the last time you went to someone's house that actually had a recycling bin? I've only come across a couple of people that take the time to recycle.

Sure, you can call a local recycling company and pay to have them pick up your items each week, but how many people are actually doing that? I would have to guess not very many of us. Providing bins and pick-up would likely inspire thousands of people to participate in recycling.

Is working toward saving the environment not a worthy investment for Lubbock?

I lived in Minnesota for several years before moving back here. I was absolutely amazed at the way everyone there treated recycling. Every single person had a bin in front of their home and everyone participated. It was just part of life. They all worked together to reduce, reuse, and recycle. They seemed to really understand the importance of lessening our carbon footprint.

Just kind of wondering why Lubbock hasn't jumped on that train or if we ever will.
