I have always been a big fan of Jalapeño jelly and I recently came across Wicker's Mesquite Smoked Jalapeño Jelly on a random Lubbock foodie Facebook page. Guys, I am in love.

Owner Wes Wicker makes this delicious jelly with his wife, and the pair have sold over 6,000 jars in the last year. They now have products in 18 stores throughout Texas, seven of them right here in Lubbock. Lucky us.

Wicker described the creation of his jelly business to 94.5 FMX:

"In 2012, while visiting the 6666 Ranch in West Texas I tried jalapeño jelly for the first time. I was immediately hooked. After further thought, I decided to make some myself at home. I also thought that I should add my own twist to it, so I decided to smoke the jalapeños with mesquite and to make the jelly with pure cane sugar. The end product was absolutely addictive! After giving some to several friends and family members, most of them told me I should make more and sell it. Over the course of the next year, I sold over 600 jars. In the years following, I moved a couple of times, got busy with other tasks in life, and unfortunately my jelly moved to the back burner. I have been relentlessly hounded by several people to make more, so I finally did. Now that I have, it has reinvigorated me to start selling it again. Since starting back up in August 2019, we have sold over 6,000 jars. We have products in 17 stores throughout Texas. We have shipped to 18 states in the US. We have also shipped to Australia, Canada, & The Virgin Islands."

If you're looking for a last-minute holiday gift idea or something to add to the table, this stuff is perfect. Pour it over some cream cheese and dig in with some sturdy crackers. You won't be sorry. The website also mentions that the jelly makes a great meat glaze, and that's basically all I can think about at my desk right now. Jalapeno jelly meat glaze, you will be mine.
