Woody’s Pizza & Bar Announces Reopening in Lubbock

Woody’s Pizza & Bar, a local favorite known for its deep dish pizza, wings, and more, is planning a reopening this spring (or earlier) at a new location in Lubbock. Fans and longtime customers recently received the news via the restaurant’s official Facebook page, where the owners shared that they will soon return at the former Gilbert’s Bar and Grill on Salem Avenue, in the parking lot near Cactus Alley.

The announcement marks an exciting comeback for Woody’s after its original 34th Street location closed in late 2024 following nine years of service in the community. At the time, the restaurant cited rising operational costs and financial strain as reasons for closing.

What to Expect At The New Woody's
Woody's posted that they would be "reviving the pizzas, wings, poppers, cheese sticks," but not grill items (I'm guessing items like burgers). They also posted that they would have live music, a salad bar at lunch, and a full bar for those who imbibe.

The new location is at Cactus Alley Courtyard, a quirky and cool area in Lubbock that is also home to a coffee shop, a bakery, shops, salons, and La Sirena, another Lubbock restaurant.

Looking Ahead
As Woody’s prepares for its spring reopening, the restaurant presents a renewed opportunity for dining in Lubbock. The owners plan to share more details as the opening date approaches, including announcements about menu offerings, hours of operation, and any potential grand opening events.

We’ll continue to update this story as more official details become available.
