Most of the time it's the high-speed chases that make the news. The dangerous helicopter footage of a car swerving in and out of traffic going back in the opposite direction. They make movies about them and budget huge amounts of money to wreck cars all up and down highways to film exquisite chase scenes involving traffic and speed.

Art doesn't always imitate real life, though. Nobody will be making a movie about Christopher Reyna, who led police on a short pursuit at slow speeds.

Here's the statement from the Lubbock County Sheriff's office about the traffic stop that involved the "chase":

At approximately 11:25 a.m. this morning, a deputy responded to a call for service in regards to a reckless driver North of New Deal swerving all over the road.

The deputy was able to locate the white GMC pickup Southbound on the Interstate and attempted to conduct a traffic stop. The vehicle continued Southbound at speeds of 35-43 mph. A short Pursuit at slow speeds was initiated when the driver refused to stop.

The vehicle came to a stop at Ave N and Erskine Ave. The driver was identified as 42 –year-old Christopher Reyna, sole occupant of the vehicle.

Reyna will be transported to the Lubbock County Detention Center where he will be charged with, Evading in a Motor Vehicle.

In the Hollywood rewrite, Reyna will be played by Danny Trejo and will have his signature machete. The Lubbock County Sheriff will be played by some rugged young actor like Jon Boyega. I'm glad the incident in Lubbock came to a safe conclusion. I doubt the movie version would be so calm.
