A Thursday morning attack at a Lubbock park left one man seriously injured and his family's service dog stolen. Now, there's a positive update.

Mac, the dog belonging to local tattoo artist Hymie "Chico" Perez and his family, was found and returned, according to an update on Facebook.

Perez, who works at Ghostrider's Tattoo & Body Piercing Studio in Lubbock, was attacked with a machete by a group of men while fishing at Mae Simmons Park Thursday morning (July 30th). According to a GoFundMe page created on Friday for Perez by his girlfriend Renata Hernandez, he was also shot during the attack.

"He had ortho surgery to save both of his legs, after that he will have another surgery for his eyesight," Hernandez wrote in an update on the GoFundMe page. Perez is currently in the ICU and awake, the post said.

According to Hernandez, their daughter suffers from seizures, and Mac alerts the family when she's about to have one.
