P.O.D. guitarist Marcos Curiel has revealed the name and release date for the band's next studio album.

Speaking to me during The Midday Meltdown about P.O.D.'s return to Lubbock Sunday (April 19) for the 34th Annual FMX Birthday Bash, Curiel let slip some details about the band's new album, including when fans can expect the new single to hit. (Skip to the 3-minute mark in the video above.)

"We're going to be playing some new tunes off our upcoming record [at the Birthday Bash], which is slated to come out in August. I think the first single's gonna drop in May," said Curiel. "And the record's called 'The Awakening.'"

The band's latest release was "SoCal Sessions," which came out November 2014. The album boasted acoustic versions of the band's biggest songs.

P.O.D. will throw it down with Three Days Grace, The Pretty Reckless, Hellyeah and more this Sunday, April 19 at the 34th Annual FMX Birthday Bash.
