There was a time when going to the airport was fun.

A lot of us remember when airports were an adventure. Now they've become a process. Gone are the days when you'd take the whole family to the airport so you'd be able to greet whatever family member was coming in. They'd trot down that runway and there would be all those smiling faces ready to greet them. These days you can't even sit and have a cocktail with a family member before sending them off on a trip.

Then there's the hassle of going to the airport. Parking at an airport is one of the least things ever. As mentioned, you have no company to kill time with. Getting your bag checked was never pleasant, to begin with. Then you cap it all off by taking your shoes, belt, and/or whatever off for a trip through security which makes you feel more than a little violated.

It was not always like this my friends, in fact, I used to enjoy going to the Lubbock Airport because L.I.A. used to have a game room. If you're of a certain age, you remember that glass-walled game room like it was one of the most special places on earth. I can even go one better, the best thing about that game room, at least for me, was the Addams Family Pinball game. I'm betting that thing saw more quarters than most banks.

Addams Family Pinball is legendary. The game dropped in 1992 and had a feature where a "Thing" hand would actually grab up the ball once in a while. It was truly one of the best games ever. It was based on the 1991 movie and featured tons of likeliness from the film and its actors.

Yes, there were other games there (I seem to remember Joust) but I have to give it up for Addams Family Pinball, in the game room, at the Lubbock International Airport.
