The Kansas City Chiefs mounted a late-game comeback against the New England Patriots, but ultimately fell short in overtime, 37-31.

The Chiefs pulled ahead 28-24 with around two minutes left in the game. However, Tom Brady would make quick work out of that lead, pulling the Patriots ahead 31-28 with a swift touchdown-scoring drive.

Not to be outdone, the Chiefs moved the ball far enough downfield to let kicker Harrison Butker put up a 39-yard field goal to tie up the game, 31-31, with 11 seconds left in the game, sending the game into overtime.

The Patriots won the Overtime coin toss, giving them the opening drive.

From there, Tom Brady did what Tom Brady often does: win. Topping off a shaky drive, a handoff to no. 34 Rex Burkhead secured the Patriots' spot in Super Bowl LIII against the Los Angeles Rams.

Despite the loss in the AFC Championship Game, former Texas Tech star Patrick Mahomes had an unbelievable first season besides leading the Chiefs to the AFC Championship.
