August 26th is National Dog Day, Let’s Celebrate!
National Dog Day is celebrated each year on August 26th. The founder of National Dog Day, Colleen Paige, and her family adopted her first dog when she was 10-years-old on August 26th which is why the day is significant.
Paige is also the founder of National Puppy Day, National Mutt Day and National Cat Day, along with many more days to increase attention on the plight of animals and to encourage adoption.
Enjoy the day with your dog today and if you get a chance you should check out these great treats from Three Dog Bakery to give to your dog to make them feel special! FMX host Renee Raven showed off some of their pupper treats for back to school recently.
Having a pet is usually a great thing for a human, but can be challenging at times. Dogs bring an even more special aspect to being a pet owner because of their willingness to be great at making a human smile.
If you don't have a dog and are considering adopting, take some time to stop by the local animal shelters. Shelter pets make wonderful additions to a family and are typically better than pure-breeds from an overall financial perspective.
