It Doesn't Seem Bad

It's easy to think that you're living in a pretty great place, after all your friends and family are here. You may even have roots that go back generations. You may even have tried to move out of the state of Texas and felt like things were worse in those places. The truth is, metrics and statistics tell an entirely different story about the state of Texas and it's not a good one.

But It's Not Good

A recent study had Texas as the seventh worse place to raise a family. Texas did poorly in the categories of "Health & Safety", "Education & Childcare", and "Socioeconomics", which factored in unemployment and credit scores. The only place that Texas did okay in the survey was "affordability".

We Could Make It Better

Surveys like this should never be taken at face value, but as indicators that there are some problems that need to be addressed. I don't think any Texan would say that the health and safety of our children isn't a top priority, but for some reason those good thoughts are getting us any results. On another front, Texan has never really stepped out with an effort to provide the best education for students either, instead making "what to teach" a contentious issue.

It Would Be A Commitment

Issues like the ones discussed in this survey have an eroding effect on the fabric of our society. It is not hyperbole to say that a few kids and/or families left behind grows into larger and larger groups of disenfranchised people. Even if this survey only has a whisper of truth to it, we should step up and select leaders who put Texas families first.

Revealing! Texas Has Six Nude Beaches, Here's Where To Find Them

Ready to let it all "hang out" this Summer? Here are the 6 locations where you can (mostly) legally sunbathe and swim in the buff in Texas. Remember to use common sense and research each area's rules before dropping your drawers. In most cases, these are limited areas and NOT the entire lake or beach.
