We have some real hidden gems on this list, so get ready to explore Lubbock and some of the spots that Yelp! reviewers said were the best.

It’s National French Fry Day, and while you probably already have a go-to spot for your crispy golden fix, I’ve rounded up five new places in Lubbock that might surprise you.

Let’s be real—who doesn’t love a hot, golden, salty fry? I’ll admit it: if I just wanted a guaranteed classic, I’d roll up to Whataburger. Their fries are reliable and always hit the spot.

But for those of you who qualify as foodies, here are some local options that just might become your new favorites.

Let’s Talk Yelp Reviews (And What Not to Trust)

Yelp can be a quirky guide—it takes a certain kind of dedication to hop online and rave about French fries. That said, some of their fry-related picks are...questionable. For example, Papa V’s Pizza reportedly has the best fries in Lubbock. The twist? I I don’t think they actually serve fries.

Let’s stick to the legit local fry spots that do exist and have earned real praise.

Lubbock's Lesser-Known French Fry Royalty

1. Tastee Burgers – 2434 Clovis Rd

Tastee Burgers has popped up on several “best of” lists in Lubbock, and for good reason. Reviewers rave about their crispy fries as much as their burgers. This spot has true fry cred.

2. The Shack BBQ – 2309 North Frankford

While I haven’t tried their fries myself, everything I have eaten from The Shack has been flawless. If their fries are even half as good as their brisket, you’re in for a treat.

3. Appletree Cafe & Bakery – 3501 50th St, Ste 224

This cafe’s reviews flat-out say they have the best fries in Lubbock. It’s always a pleasant surprise when a bakery knocks fries out of the park too.

4. The All-American Eatery & Catering Co. – 8901 Highway 87

Hand-cut fries? Yes, please. That classic style of French fry always carries more flavor, and this south Lubbock spot is doing them right.

5. Wrecked Burgers and Brews – 2420 Broadway

This place was new to me, but their “Meat Sweats” burger and solid reviews grabbed my attention. I’ll be stopping by to investigate their fry game ASAP.

🏅 Honorable Mention: Kokio Korean Fried Chicken – 5217 82nd St

I can personally vouch for Kokio. Their fries and fried chicken are next-level. Fresh, flavorful, and seriously addicting. If you haven’t tried this place yet, put it on your must-eat list.

Whether you're celebrating French Fry Day with old favorites or trying something new, these local gems are serving up flavor worth raving about.
