Get your fill of Fall with another fantastic haunted house in Plainview

Just a short drive from Lubbock, another nightmare waits for you — and this one’s worth the gas money. Located in Plainview, Texas, The Blackness Haunted House has become one of the South Plains’ premier scare spots, now celebrating its 14th terrifying year.

As some of you know, I’m part of the haunted house community myself — co-owner of a few haunts in Lubbock and Austin — and I can tell you that despite the competition, there’s a strong spirit of support among us. We share props, actors, and even ideas to keep the West Texas haunt scene alive and screaming. In fact, the folks behind The Blackness helped us with actors for our Christmas haunt, and we’re hoping they do it again!

Because we all run at the same time of year, we rarely get to visit each other’s shows, but I can tell you this: The Blackness keeps evolving. Haunting runs deep in their veins, and each season brings new terrors. This year, they’ve added something truly chilling — a “Buried Alive” coffin ride that simulates your own burial, complete with the sounds of dirt hitting the lid. If you’re claustrophobic, you might want to sit this one out. But if your friends say they “can’t wait” to try it — you might want to keep an eye on them.
