The Red Sox did exactly what they needed to on Monday night to set themselves up for a potential World Series championship win on Wednesday night in Boston.

Dustin Pedroia kicked things off in the first and David Ortiz drove him in on a double to take the early 1-0 lead.

Matt Holliday responded with a solo moonshot in the fourth, but that would be the only offensive rebuttal from St. Louis all night.

David Ross drove in Xander Bogaerts in the 7th, then later in the same inning Jacoby Ellsbury drove in Stephen Drew.

With a 3-1 victory over the Cards, Fenway now becomes the location that Boston just has to take care of business, but a realm of improbability for the Cardinals. Stay tuned for Game 6's recap.
