Lubbock Cat Owners Know These Things Are Basically Mandatory
If you've got a bunch of cats waiting for you to get home each day in Lubbock, then you probably already know that that cruddy apartment isn't actually yours.
It's theirs.
I've got three: Miss Busy, the baby; Lil Greg, the middle child; and Scamps, the old man. Despite their wildly different personalities, they all agree on one thing: I exist solely to provide them with an endless supply of stuff.
If you're a new kitty owner, here are a few things you'll definitely need:
First, kitty cats need multiple places to sleep.
You can buy them the fanciest cat house in the world at Pets Plus, but for some reason, they'll still prefer the box it came in.
Second, if you don't have plenty of scratch posts or pads, your brand-new couch only has a matter of time before it looks like the one someone left by your dumpster last weekend.
I got mine a HUGE scratching post TOWER over at PetSmart on Slide. Highly recommend. My cats be partying on that thing! It makes me wish I had a reason to sharpen my claws...
Third, you need certain food and water dishes to keep your cats truly happy.
After much trial and error, I have learned that my cats prefer to eat food off of a plate, like real little people, and they MUST have a water dish that circulates the water. It's like...their own fancy little water fountain.
Apparently, a plain bowl of water doesn't jive with their instincts to look for fresh, running water.

Let's not forget the litter box.
I've got one box per cat, so you can imagine the joy I feel digging for treasure in not one, but three litter boxes. A lot of cat owners make the mistake of not having enough. If you don't want them to potty on your pile of laundry or in some other majorly inconvenient spot, make sure you've got at least one box per kitty.
Some day, I'll splurge and get one of those robot boxes...
And, finally...toys. ANY toys will do.
They don't even have to be real toys. A shoestring. A cotton ball. A plastic bag. Cats will play with ANYTHING. Mine are fascinated by hair ties and rubber bands. It's obnoxious, but as long as they are happy, I don't mind suffering through a bad hair day without one.
Honestly, coming home after a long day to those little furry felines is the best thing in the world. I'm pretty convinced they actually love me, too, especially when it's dinner time...
